Buyer’s Guide for Micro USB to HDMI

What is a Micro USB to HDMI adapter used for?

The most common way in which a Micro USB to HDMI adapter is used for, is for home theater purposes. Essentially, a cable connects your phone, tablet, or other device to an HD display such as a Monitor, TV, or projector. This will allow you to bring up a movie on your phone and play it on a larger screen. Additionally, since these adapters also transmit audio signals, you can utilize larger speakers as well.

One word of warning with these adapters – they don’t do a good job of audio/visual playback when you are accessing media through specific apps such as Netflix or Disney+ on your phone. They perform great however, when it comes to YouTube or mirroring video content from a chrome browser.

What should I consider when buying one?

Most cables are pretty similar to each other. However, there are a few things to consider when buying a USB to HDMI cable.

    1. Compatibility – make sure the cable/adapter you are buying is compatible with your device. The adapter manufacturer should specify which devices it is compatible with.
    2. Length – you should consider cable length depending on where your HD display is set up. For example, if your HD TV is mounted on a wall, you will likely want a cable long enough so that your connected device can rest on the ground. That’s probably a minimum of a 6 foot cable that you need.
    3. Video specs. If you have a newer TV that supports resolutions such as 4k or higher, make sure the adapter you buy also supports that resolution.

Where can I buy a micro USB to HDMI?

Currently, micro USB to HDMI is the safest and most recommended connector for your electronic devices. They are available at just about any electronics store such as Best Buy. Specific computer manufacturers such as Apple will also carry adapters, but they will be specific to their brand’s specifications. Apple for example, uses a USB-C port in macbooks and a mini USB-C port in iPhones. Thus, if you want to connect your iPhone to an HD display, make sure to get one with the right adapter on it to conform to Apple products.

In general, Amazon is our recommended place to easily get the adapter you are looking for. They are inexpensive and most can simply connect to your device and that’s it!

Can you convert micro USB to HDMI?

The short answer is yes! That’s exactly what these products do. They transmit audio and video signals from the original device to an HD display, such as a curved monitor. Most cables can transmit this at super fast speeds that are unnoticeable to the human eye/ear. Meaning, you could be watching a video on your phone, and the HD monitor that is also displaying it would be mirroring that video at speeds fast enough to look identical. We are talking milliseconds here – you won’t notice a difference.

Can you change a USB port to HDMI?

Yes, you can change your traditional USB port to HDMI as there is a time when all your ports on your computer is occupied or busy and you want to add another HDMI cable for the screen. You can do it by adding connectors such as Cable Matters USB 3.0 to HDMI that easily connect with your USB port and simply add HDMI display screen to system.
