Curved monitors are great for work but also add additional benefits beyond the 9 to 5 grind. They are elegant, have a wider screen, very high resolution, and can function nicely for entertainment including video games and movie watching.

I have an LG Curved monitor on my desk and enjoy it. I love how it creates the effect of an expanded field of vision. I also enjoy how I can move my eyes – but not my head – to see the content on the screen.

Curved monitors, much like flat monitors, come in at different price points. The key drivers for price will be size and screen quality (resolution). Secondary drivers of price will include refresh rate (processing power contained by the monitor) and the quality of the materials the product is made of (glass, plastic, metal).

All of the monitors reviewed below offer high resolutions and fast refresh rates. Unless you are watching 4k, movies you won’t notice any performance differences or degradation for these monitors.

Curved monitors are very similar to flat monitors so you don’t need an entirely new set of vocabulary to evaluate them. In short, find a monitor that fits your budget, is big enough for your work, and offers good resolution so that you can see content clearly and with minimal pixelation.

Best Curved Computer Monitors Buyer Guide

A curved monitor is ideal for the home office worker who not only has work obligations but likes to game on the monitor as well. Curved monitors are well-documented to offer immersive computational experiences. They offer a wider viewing angle, greater display space, and fewer reflections.

The best curved monitor for office work tends to be larger and offer more screen real estate. This makes them more enjoyable to look at hour after hour, day after day. This can be particularly attractive to the home office worker who not only wants to look at many pieces of content, but one who wants all of this content open in a single view.

The best curved monitors tend to be more expensive than flat monitors and are difficult to mount on a wall. As a result, before purchasing a curved monitor you should think about your home office setup.

Do you envision placing the monitor on a wall, or on a desk? If you are set on mounting a monitor, a curved one is likely not the product you should be buying. If, on the other hand, you want a monitor on a desk, a curved one might be just what you need.

Below are additional considerations to keep in mind when buying a curved computer monitor.

    General Information

Curved monitors are up to 24 inches in size and mimic the three-dimensional space magnificently. But as we all know: the world is not flat. The curvature of the monitor helps to create peripheral vision. This in turn makes playing games and viewing dynamic content (videos, photos, movies) more immersive.

About 10 years ago flat screens replaced bulky CRTs, but curved displays have become more popular recently. This is in part because of three reasons. Their cost has come down, their size has gone up, and their pixelation quality has become even more powerful. The advantages of a curved monitor are underscored by a larger screen, a larger display area, and a more powerful processor with less latency.

A small screen with subtle curvature will not do much for your feeling of immersion. But, you can benefit from a larger display area with a wider aspect ratio than a flat screen. Ultrawide aspect ratios work well with curved designs and help bring the entire image into your field of view. If your computer monitor has a wide aspect ratio, the curvature of the screen in games, such as video games, will be more useful.

If your field of vision is not that large, bending the display is less effective. So if your home office places your chair, desk, and monitor in very close proximity, then you will obtain less benefit from a curved display. This is particularly true if you want to mount your monitor on a wall. Flat screens are usually better for this function.

    Refresh Rate for Gaming Monitors

For the typical work from home person reading this, refresh rate isn’t something to be too concerned with. But for gamers, it’s very important. A monitor’s refresh rate is essentially how fast it can read from your computer’s graphics card. The faster it can read from your graphics card, the faster it updates the images on screen.

If you are mostly buying a curved monitor to work from home, then a refresh rate of 60 hertz or higher should do the trick for you. If you are a gamer, you’ll want to look at refresh rates of at least 100. But ideally, most gamers say a refresh rate around 150 makes an even bigger difference.

    Field Of Vision

Large curved monitors can improve your experience and workflow in many ways. This includes better performance, better viewing angles, and a better user experience.

When researching curved and flat monitors, it is common for the specifications of curved screens to correlate with greater immersion due to a better field of view. If your eyes are able to fully grasp the curved screen, even with its larger size, they will take advantage of this natural feeling while remaining comfortable. That’s why the best-curved monitors are an excellent choice for graphic artists and video editing.

    Size Options

The curved monitor works best when you sit directly in front of it. This means that it works better on certain kinds of desks. For example a large flat bedroom desk is particularly well suited for a curved monitor.

An L-shaped desk or mid-century desk, on the other hand, might be too small or the wrong angle to accommodate a large curved monitor display. Curved screens are usually more expensive than flat screens and standard monitors. This is because they rely on different parts and less wide-scale production.

Simply put, they are more expensive to produce. This means that they can be sold for a higher price to you (and you can sell it for a higher price when you are done with it as well). The size of the monitor matters and you should measure the surface area of the space you will place it before buying.

    Benefits of a Curved Monitor

There are many benefits to using a curved monitor. The most obvious benefit is the immersive experience it provides. When you’re gaming or watching a movie, a curved monitor gives you a wider field of view that feels more natural and makes it easier to take in the whole scene.

If you are a focused gamer, you will like the benefits of a curved screen. Games feel more immersive. When you are using them in close proximity you feel like you are in the computer (or game). This can work wonders if you are a regular gamer. As a result of this immersive experience, curved monitors also distort displays less. This can help your eyes and reduce eye fatigue, pain, or headaches over time.

For graphic designers, photographers or content creators, a curved monitor can enable you to inspect your images, videos, or other creative content with the greatest clarity, higher resolution and with the smallest glare factor.

Curved monitors also tend to have less glare and reflections. This means that you get a better image quality which can help reduce eye strain. If you spend a lot of time in front of your monitor display, the extra $$$ you spend on one is insignificant relative to the enhanced viewing experience you will enjoy.

If you plan on putting your curved monitor on a desk (as opposed to placing on a wall), then a curved monitor will provide you even more screen real estate.

Is a curved monitor better for working from home?

Standard computer monitors can be a little boring and don’t offer the best viewing experience.  If you’re like most people, you spend a lot of time in front of your computer monitor. Why not make that experience more enjoyable with a curved monitor?

Curved computer monitors are the perfect way to improve your computing experience. With better resolution and a wider screen, they offer an immersive experience that is perfect for and immersive viewing experience when watching movies or gaming. Plus, they can also be great for working from home.

Is a curved computer monitor better for productivity?

Curved monitors have become increasingly popular in recent years as manufacturers have begun to experiment with different screen shapes. A curved monitor is designed to wrap around your field of vision, different opinions on whether or not a curved monitor is actually better for productivity.

Some people find that the curve helps them focus more on the center of the screen, while others find that it causes eye strain. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference.
